Thunder Lake Lodge

If you are looking for the perfect "Family Friendly Resort," Thunder Lake Lodge will not dissapoint you! How about the fishing?  In the words of Ron Schara, "I've never had a bad trip there. The fishing is great, and the fish are actually larger than I expected. For an overlooked bass lake, the bass were huge! Largemouth and Smallmouth bass. The Pike were active and larger than I am use to, and I also caught some huge panfish! I can't wait to go back to try for the walleyes next." Adding to the experience on this body of water, is the pristine clear waters of this glacial lake. And, once you meet Craig and Jamie, the resort owners, you'll realize why it is on Ron's "A" list.  Loads of activities are provided on the grounds, but there is even more!  Each week they host a kids fishing contest from their docks. The kids win prizes for their catch, and learn a thing or two about fishing.  All ages can participate, and the kids are gauranteed memories that will last a lifetime. You'll also enjoy your stay in the comfortable cabins uniquely placed on the waters edge. Enjoy a bonfire, share stories, catch a fish or two, or just get out of town in the northern wilderness. Either way, you'll be glad that you went.  By the way, the walleyes can be caught off the dock in May and June... Thunder lake Lodge, another "A" list destination that you must experience!

Roy Lake Resort...

When we think of South Dakota, it's easy to think about the prairies full of pheasants, ducks and geese.  While these are all good things, there are a few hidden gems tucked into the glacial lakes region.  Roy Lake is just one of these places.  Yes, you can still take advantage of the fall hunting seasons when you come to this area, but you also should know about the world class fishery that is Roy Lake.  In fact, many of the fishing shows that you see each weekend are filmed on this hidden gem.  Walleyes, pike, pan fish, and more importantly, gigantic smallmouth bass swim these waters.  All season is a great time, but mid summer proves the best fishing.  Now for the best place to stay when you visit - check out Roy Lake Resort.  Jan is your wonderful guest, and you won't leave dissapointed.  Roy Lake Resort - a must stop on your vacation to-do-list!

Bowstring Shores Resort...

Sitting on the shores of Bowstring Lake in Deer River, MN, stands a family owned resort just perfect for a summer getaway. Darv and Marjeane Oelke are tremendous folk, and enjoy making your visit fun and relaxing. I have been fishing Bowstring Lake for many years, and the walleye fishing can be absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the great Pike and Panfish action as well. The perfect cabin setting lines the shores of their property, games and activities for the kids, and a pool to relax after a day of catching your fish. Not to forget about the bonfire in the evening, but you might be too tired from all the other activities. Bowstring Shores Resort is one of the premiere getaways for you and your family, and an "A" list resort all the way!

Rainy Lake Houseboats...

Rainy Lake Houseboats is an adventure different than most northern destinations. By jumping aboard a houseboat, you are able to have the entire Voyageurs National Park Wilderness surrounding your cabin, and can change settings at will, and the sights and sounds of nature on this pristine wilderness adventure are spectacular. Call it a mobile, luxurious campground of sorts, that is sure to please the entire family. This trip has been highly regarded as the perfect family escape, or for a group of friends looking for a fun time. You can tow your boat behind you as you go, and did I mention the fishing is fantastic on this body of water as well. Definitely give Rainy Lake Houseboats a visit this summer. You won’t be disappointed!

Pimushe Resort

Looking for a hideaway, a perfect family resort? Pimushe is just such a place. I discovered Pimushe one day while exploring northern Minnesota in a float plane. We landed on Pimushe Lake, met the owners and took a tour of their beautiful resort. Ed is a woodworker and we quickly discovered nifty outdoorsy cabins with homemade furniture.  Since fishing is important to me, I discovered that Pimushe has a good population of largemouth bass and walleyes. In addition, the lake is harboring nice bluegills and crappies. Ed also imposes a size limit on the lake's panfish to preserve the good fishing. It means the big crappies and bluegills must be released to be caught again another day (by the next guests). Don't worry, there's plenty of smaller panfish to enjoy good eating. If you're looking for relaxation or a family beach or boating fun, it's all there at Pimushe Resort....the place you've never heard about before.

Cedar Rapids Lodge...

Cedar Rapids lodge is the perfect getaway if you are looking to entertain the family. This quiet family owned resort offers the peace and quiet your family will love. With plenty of activities for the kids, great fishing on Medicine Lake, and extremely comfortable cabins, you simply cannot go wrong. All the amenities from home, in an up north cabin setting. Pat and Steve Adler are tremendous hosts, and have been entertaining guests for years. My greatest memory was sitting around the fire enjoying the peace and quiet with the comfy hosts. They make you feel right at home, which is exactly what a vacation should be. Plus, the panfish in the lake are large, which is an extra bonus for the fisherman! Cedar Rapids Lodge is an “A” list resort worthy of any guest.

Chase on the Lake...

Looking for the getaway that has everything and a little History? Chase on the Lake is newly built project on Leech Lake. Many years ago, the old chase burnt down only to be rebuilt, and re-opened in 2008. This mega million dollar project offers anything from resort, to timeshare possibilities, to first class dining and care. The tremendous rebound in the walleye populations have put this new expanse of a lake on the map once again, and you won’t find the fishing spots hard to come by. No matter what your occasion is, Chase on the Lake will certainly handle your needs. Leech Lake, and Chase on the Lake are back for good!

East Bay Suites

What would an "A" list be without a visit to the North Shore?  Lake Superior just might have the best scenery in the entire state.  The area is alive with life all year long.  If you are into skiing, its got what you need!  Fishing?  Yep, that's there as well!  Family fun is all around, and there are endless activities while in this neck of the woods.  Aside from all the fun and excitement, lies the chance to just be at peace and relax.  East Bay Suites provides all the aforementioned, as well as the chance to get away.  Perfect for a couples destination or the family, you have to give this little gem a try!

Spring Bay Resort...

Have you ever wanted that Canadian destination trip without going to Canada? Hands down, one of the best fisheries in this state lies just south of the border, but offers the Canadian experience. Lake Vermillion is plump full of Minnesota’s premier game fish, and they grow very, very large. Anglers from all over the country go up to see that amazing sunrise off of the many islands while in search of huge muskies, jumping smallies, and the fairly easy to catch walleyes. Spring Bay Resort lies on the prime western edge of this fabulous lake, and they know how to take care of ya! This pristine resort was newly acquired by the Amundson family in 2007, and they are going far out of their way to provide the ultimate in customer service. Rookie fisherman or pro, they are going to help you enjoy your stay, and offer first class service while you are with them. Spring Bay Resort, Another “A” list resort worthy of your time, and a trip you will never forget!
